Mission Statement:

Hillel Day Camp serves the five towns community by running a well organized camp. We devote ourselves to providing activities that are not only fun but serve to nurture the physical, intellectual and emotional lives of all our campers in a safe manner. we pride ourselves on our ability to promote playing together and learning how to appreciate one another in ouR friendly, orthodox, Jewish camp setting.

 


Our Staff:

ari

ARI SOLOMON, CAMP DIRECTOR

Ari is a teacher in the NYC Public School system, overseeing sports education and leadership training. He has been managing various Jewish Day Camps for over 20 years. Ari also has a Master’s degree in Education and is a recipient of the Jefferson Award for organizing and inspiring children in free fitness and character building programs and transforming their lives through running, exercising and making healthy life choices.

ALYSSA SCHECHTER, PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Alyssa is the Assistant Director of Student Activities in HAFTR high school, and holds a Master’s Degree in Early Education and Special Education. She has been working for Jewish Day Camps in Long Island for over 10 years, and has spent the last 9 years developing fun, engaging, and memorable programs. She is also a parent of three HAFTR students.

EVAN LEBOWITZ, ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, LOWER CAMPUS

Evan is an experienced New York City Public Schools teacher. He has spent the last 5 years working with Jewish Day Camps to develop enriching and entertaining programs. Evan holds his Master’s Degree in Early Education.

RABBI JORDAN NADELBACH, ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, UPPER CAMPUS

Rabbi Nadelbach has worked in the Jewish Day Camps for over 7 years and is experienced in organizing and hiring great staff. He has his Master’s Degree in Special Education, teaches in a private school, and studies at Yeshiva G’dola.

SHANA POLLACK, CAMP HEAD COUNSELOR

Shana will be bringing her years of Hillel Day Camp experience, community knowledge and professional skills as an educator back to Hillel Day Camp. We anticipate her leadership and
personable demeanor to be the bridge between the upper and lower campuses.
sima

SIMA FISH, AQUATICS DIRECTOR

Sima has been a head lifeguard for 20 years. She has been at Hillel Day Camp for the past 5 years. Sima holds licenses in rescue diving, lifeguarding instruction, Response to Emergency, First Aid, CPR, and pool manangement. Sima is also an Assistant Principal of the Ezra Academy of Queens. She is a doctoral candidate in Education and has a Master’s Degree in Education and a law degree.
